One billion people worldwide are visually impaired simply because they lack access to glasses.

Dr Sarah Crowe is an ophthalmologist, inventor, environmentalist, and business executive. Raised in Montreal, she studied at universities in Canada and Scotland, before becoming a Rhodes Scholar and earning a DPhil in Molecular Biology from Oxford University. She later obtained her medical degree from the University of Toronto and completed her specialist training in Ophthalmology in Sydney.

Over the past 25 years, Dr Crowe has built a thriving private practice in Sydney, all while raising four children. Driven by a deep passion for improving visual health, particularly for those in underserved communities, her commitment was solidified during her work in the Solomon Islands in 2017. It was there that she witnessed the widespread issue of uncorrected refractive error and its devastating impact on people’s lives due to the lack of access to glasses.

Now, Dr Crowe has dedicated her career to finding solutions to this global problem, aiming to
provide vision correction to those in need and making a lasting difference in the field of eye care.
